Good Evening, Plum Tree Families!

We began September learning about the parts of the leaf:  the blade, the veins & the petiole.  Miss Littia and friends collected different leaves, and we made beautiful leaf rubbings!   Much of the art work, we are saving for our annual Art Show, so don’t be concerned if you are not receiving several pieces each week.

As we finished our book about Crystal, we continue our study of mammals.  Today, we began reading Dolphins at Daybreak, by Mary Pope Osbourne.  She is the author of the Magic Tree House series.

Afterwards, we were involved in a discussion about our afternoon snack–frozen banana slices, which I wanted the children to try with dates.  We decided on making smoothies, which turned out DELICIOUS!  We used leftover frozen strawberries, frozen bananas, yogurt, milk and dates.  I love involving the students in the preparation of our snacks!  The children are more apt to try new food when they prepare them!

Tomorrow afternoon, we will prepare our banana rice pudding for Thursday’s snack.  I will include the children’s ideas for next week’s snack, so please share some of their favorite recipes.  Once cool weather arrives, we will prepare a weekly soup and bread!

Tomorrow, we welcome a new friend, Margot Burke.  Margot’s family will be moving to Bowling Green very soon, and she and her family are visiting Bowling Green through Friday.  Please welcome Margot and her family, to our Plum Tree Family!

More, tomorrow!

Miss Michele
