This Week in Primary

September 29, 2011

Dear Plum Tree Friends and Families,

This week has been wonderful!  We went for a walk on our Nature Trail
and saw the leaves changing and beginning to fall.

We also have a tulip poplar on our Nature Trail.  The tulip poplar
is the our state tree!  AND, we have goldenrods growing all over our Nature
Trail–our state flower!

I introduced the children to the Skeletal System, and we are learning our
skeletal song, THEM BONES!  I will post this on our web-site as
soon as I can.

Along with learning about the skeletal system, we have been discussing
what our bodies need for strong, healthy bones and teeth:

1.  Sunshine

2.  Safe Exercise

3.  Foods rich in Vitamin D and Calcium like spinach, kale, broccoli,
yogurt, milk, ice cream, & cheese

4.  Sleep

Today, we viewed real x-rays!

We will continue our study after Fall Break.  Plum Tree will be closed
October 3-11, 2011 for Fall Break.  School will resume Wednesday, October 12,
2011.

Remember:  Tomorrow is Show & Share!!

Unfortunately a couple of our friends have been ill with a temperature.
We hope they feel better very soon!

Sincerely.

Miss Michele

Another Turtle!

September 19, 2011

When we went on the playground this morning,  Abby S. found another turtle!
We painted a blue mark on this one.  We offered it tomatoes and apples.  We placed the turtle back where we found it.

Everyone was so excited about the turtle & wanted to share their own story:  finding a turtle, ants in their house, spiders, & catching fish.  We have very talented storytellers!  We are going to document their stories for you!  In honor of Jacob’s ant story, we sang The Ants Go Marching!

It was a fun day!
