Turtles on Thursday

As soon as we went on the playground yesterday morning, Miss Tina found a turtle that had buried itself in the mulch. Only the carapace was showing. The carapace is the turtle’s shell. At first, we thought it was the turtle Alton had brought in, but Miss Lauren said no. We studied the turtle, and then there was another one. We painted them, like real scientists do! A reptile scientist is called a herpetologist. Now we can track them when they come back. They were Eastern Box Turtles.
When we went out on the Nature Trail, we saw one of the turtles! Given this opportunity, Miss Lauren introduced the parts of the turtle and the reptiles. It was a great Thursday!
